THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

Protecting the northern border was of great importance to the Chinese Emperors. Walls were an old form of protecting their lands from invaders. Emperor Qin accomplished an amazing monument by creating a wall. Emperor Qin created a giant wall to stop invaders from attacking China.
To protect the northern border China, Emperor Qin demanded a giant wall to be
built. Thus giving it it’s name The Great Wall. Years, before it was given that name it was called the 10,000 Li Long Wall. Li in China means three tenths of a mile. The Great Wall was made up of smaller walls that were connected. Lords before Emperor Qin made the smaller walls to protect their area from invaders. The walls that connected the smaller walls were built where materials were found. One of the ancient wonders of the world is now The Great Wall. The Great Wall soon was abandoned in 210 B.C. . When it was abandoned it started to crumble by the wind and water that eroded it.
Construction of The Great Wall was very difficult for those who builded it. Construction of The Great Wall took over 10 years. Soldiers, peasants, and laborers, were forced to work on the wall. Other workers were exiled musicians, teachers, writers, and artists. The exiles were from the north. It took a force of 300,000 men to build it. Thousands of men died in the process
